WHAT TO EXPECT DURING THE EXAM
Please wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing free from metal snaps or zippers to your appointment. You may be asked to wear a gown and a locker will be provided for clothing, jewelry and other personal items. Once in the exam room, you will lie on a special padded table that will move into the open MRI machine. During your exam you will hear knocking noises which are a normal part of the equipment mechanics.
The MRI technologist can help put you at ease by talking with you throughout your exam or you can listen to our archive of music or even bring along your ipod or favorite CD. The most important thing for you to do is to relax and lay still. The exam is safe and you shouldn't experience any unusual feelings or pain during your MRI scan.
If your exam requires the use of an injected contrast enhancing agent, we will explain the process and ask you a series of screening questions. The average exam lasts about one hour, although the actual length of your exam will depend upon your physician's requests. You may have a friend or relative accompany you into the exam room.
Please feel free to ask our professional staff questions at any time before, during or after your MRI.
